Savorient started from a simple frustration: most recipe sites either assume you have three hours and a pantry full of specialty ingredients, or they strip all the personality out of a dish just to make it "easy." We wanted something in between — recipes that respect a weeknight, and recipes from other cultures that take the time to explain where they come from instead of just listing steps.
Every recipe here is written to be followed by someone cooking it for the first time: clear measurements, no assumed knowledge, and a short note on why a dish matters where it's from, when that's relevant.
Savorient is written and curated by The Savorient Team, a small group of home cooks who love everyday cooking and the food of kitchens around the world. We're not professional chefs and don't claim to be; we write for people cooking at home on an ordinary weeknight, because that's who we are too. When a dish comes from a culture other than our own, we take the time to learn where it comes from and explain it with care. If anything here could be clearer or more accurate, we'd genuinely like to hear it through our contact page.
We test for clarity as much as flavor. If a step could be misread, we rewrite it. If an ingredient is hard to find in a typical U.S. grocery store, we either explain where to find it or suggest a substitute.
